Environmental Monitoring

Turn your passion for the environment into a satisfying career!

CIT's courses are the perfect way to kick start your career in environmental monitoring and technology.

Environmental management is a global concern. Qualifications in environmental monitoring and technology can provide you with the opportunity to assist with the management of environmental issues in Australia and around the world. With CIT's hands-on approach you will gain experience with environmental management plans, environmental risk assessments and undertake environmental project work.

Through this qualification you will learn how to implement sampling plans, prepare for site visits and perform sampling in the field whilst abiding by safety, legislative and enterprise procedures. You will gain hands-on experience at conducting tests both in the field and at site laboratories as well as learn how to prepare samples for laboratory submission.

Your study involves field trips, site visits and laboratory work. You will work in teams and independently both in the field and in the classroom as teachers assess your progress. You'll learn fundamental environmental science skills incorporating the underpinning theoretical knowledge coupled with the latest practices and procedures. All of this is provided by experienced teachers who share your passion for the environment.

This course is suited to those wanting to become environmental technicians but also supports the jobs of environmental officers, environmental protection officers and similar personnel employed by enterprises and Commonwealth, state/territory/local governments. People with this qualification would be engaged in the environmental monitoring and technology, internal auditing and continuous improvements to enhance compliance and minimise the environmental impacts of processes.

The course can be undertaken full time or part time. If you are already working in the industry or think you already have some of the skills required through past work or study then ask about the options for skills recognition.
