Overview

This qualification provides you with the skills and knowledge to work as an ICT specialist, either as an independent network support technician or as part of a team. You will develop skills to manage and install small to medium computer networks, install and manage servers, administer network security, network and data integrity and troubleshooting.

Duration: This qualification can be completed in two (2) semesters (approx. 18 hours per week) full-time or part-time equivalent. It is expected that you will spend approximately the same number of hours in private study to practise skills and apply new knowledge.

The 2020 Semester 1 enrolment fees for this course are based on the costs per subject as indicated below. The total program cost may vary depending on the choice of elective subjects or if subjects are attempted more than once.

Subject costs identified as Standard are partially subsidised by the ACT Government. Concessions may be available to eligible students.

Costs identified as Apprentice or Trainee apply only to students studying as part of an Australian Apprenticeship arrangement. The qualification cost for an Apprentice or Trainee is subsidised by the ACT Government. Concessions may be available to eligible Apprentices or Trainees.

Costs identified as Full Fee receive no government subsidy. Concessions are not available.

Entry Requirements / How to Apply

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. However, it is assumed that you have: 
• Completed the Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology specialising in network administration, or other relevant qualification; or 
• Demonstrated vocational experience in a range of work environments using IT networking technologies, specifically:
- The ability to pass CCNA Routing and Switching – Introduction to Networks (TCP/IP model, OSI model, basic router configuration and IP addressing including VLSM);
- Working with the basic functions of the current version of Windows Server which might include Active Directory, domain controllers and user and group management.

To study any course at CIT (excluding degrees and non-accredited training) you must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
