Overview

This Statement of Attainment is comprised of two units of competency (subjects).
The following is an overview for Perform Basic Vision and Sound Editing and Edit Digital Content for Fast Turnaround.

Perform Basic Vision and Sound Editing:
After completing this unit, you will have the skills and knowledge required to perform basic editing functions for media productions. It involves preparing source materials to be edited and completing basic edits according to production requirements.
The unit applies to those who are responsible for digitising, cutting and logging pre-recorded image and audio content under the direction of an experienced editor. Within clearly defined parameters, they also edit content using the basic functions of editing software.

Edit Digital Content for Fast Turnaround:
After completing this unit, you will have the skills and knowledge required to use non-linear digital facilities to edit digital content for fast turnaround. It involves identify and preparing source materials, undertaking edits of materials, assembling vision, sound and effects, and finalising edits according to production requirements.
The unit applies to those who have a reasonable level of experience who are involved in editing for screen and daily programs such as television news, web shows, and current affairs. At times they work on more complex programs of a formatted or routine nature, or on the editing of daily rushes for feature films.

Duration:

Eight (8) weeks part time, with one (1) x three (3) hour session per week. Approximately 6 hours of additional work will be required which includes both online and practical. Such work will include editing practice (on- and off-campus) and online reading/research.

Literacy Skills Information

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework literacy levels of at least 4 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course.
