CIT gets bigger, better, braver in 2015 as a major sponsor of the CBR Brave

Published: 04 Feb 2015

Canberra Institute of Technology is proud to be the newest official Major Partner of Canberra's national ice hockey team, CBR Brave, after signing the deal today.

CIT's Acting Chief Executive, Shane Kay, says the sponsorship is another way CIT is barracking for Canberra.

"I think CIT is one of Canberra's greatest supporters. For 85 years we have helped create and maintain a highly and diversely skilled community. This sponsorship deal with the CBR Brave is a new and exciting way we are getting behind this great city!" said Mr Kay.

CBR Brave's 36,000 plus fans in the ACT can expect to see a lot more of CIT at the games, with signage and advertisements at home games and on the team's website, along with the CIT logo on the team's home and away uniforms.

Mr Kay says CBR Brave and its fans can also expect CIT's full support.

"We will be up on our chairs cheering on the CBR Brave with the rest of them as they fight it out for the 2015 AIHL championship. We hope that having the CIT brand and CIT community behind them will help CBR Brave achieve their vision in 2015 of being Bigger. Better. Braver," Mr Kay said.

Mr Kay says the partnership will also enable opportunities for students in CIT's sport and fitness courses to work with the athletes as part of the students' training. He says that while these details are still to be negotiated, this will be a particularly exciting aspect of the sponsorship.

CBR Brave Director Warren Apps says he is also very pleased with the new partnership.

"The success of the CBR Brave in its inaugural season last year has been well documented and we have even bigger plans for 2015. The new partnership with CIT is exciting on a number of levels - obviously it will help us put together the most competitive team we can but it will also drive the appeal of the sport with new audiences and provide us with opportunities to benefit from CIT's leadership in sport, fitness and allied health."

"We look forward to a very rewarding and exciting season ahead with the support of CIT, along with our other sponsors and our fans," Mr Apps said.
