Published: 05 Feb 2018
Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) will once again host it’s free ApprenticeLink networking events this week, to provide the opportunity for ACT employers to connect with prospective apprentices and trainees. The event will be held in different locations on two different days.
"ApprenticeLink is a special networking event organised by CIT to not only connect ACT/NSW employers and prospective apprentices and trainees, but further provides information about employing apprentices and trainees in Canberra. ApprenticeLink is an opportunity to connect and learn about the various course options offered at CIT and the process for becoming an apprentice or trainee," CIT Chief Executive Leanne Cover said.
"CIT understands the valuable role business and apprentices play in the ACT community and we want to make sure there is plenty of information readily available for those people trying to make decisions about either hiring an apprentice or trainee, or those wanting to start their career in one of these highly skilled professions."
The first event will take place at CIT Fyshwick on Tuesday 6 February 2018 from 4:30pm – 6pm, covering a range of traditional trade areas such as Automotive, Electrical Trades, Cabinet Making, Plumbing, Horticulture, Automotive, Landscaping, Metal Fabrication, Tiling, Glazing, Painting and Plastering. The second event will take place at CIT Reid on Thursday 8 February 2018 from 4:30pm-6pm, which will cover course areas of Culinary, ICT, Children Services, Health Services, Community Services, Hospitality, Hairdressing and Business.
The event will showcase a range of vocational training opportunities and support services available in the ACT, with plenty of expertise available on hand across both events, including Skills Canberra, Apprenticeship Network Providers, industry Group Training Organisations, CIT Teachers and CIT Association staff.
"We encourage all interests to attend and take this opportunity to connect with valuable contacts, and gain necessary information to assist you if you are considering an apprenticeship or traineeship," said CIT Chief Executive Leanne Cover.
Interested participants are advised to enrol into either ApprenticeLink 2018 events, as places are limited.
