Business as Usual, Future is Promising for CIT
On 16 December 2011 an announcement was made by the ACT Government that it would encourage greater collaboration between CIT and UC through a new entity with the working name University of Canberra Institute of Technology (UCIT). Change, while exciting in terms of its promise, takes time to plan and execute and the discussions as to what a new shared entity will look like are only just beginning. This conversation will lead to agreement as to the new entity’s form and the activities it is expected to carry out in the future.
As these discussions continue it is important to remember that just as 2012 holds promise in terms of change it also remains business as usual for CIT. As the ACT’s leading vocational education and training provider CIT will continue to offer the full suite of VET programs from Cert I to diplomas, advanced diplomas plus degrees in 2012. Prospective and returning students can have confidence that CIT remains focussed on the development of employability skills, offering value for money and the flexibility necessary to accommodate even the most complicated of lifestyles.
And as for the change we anticipate in 2013? We are committed to forging a future together with our students, industry and the University of Canberra that is good for CIT; good for Vocational Education and Training/Higher Education in the ACT; good for the regional economy; and good for the community we have diligently served for the past 85 years. As developments unfold CIT will publish progress reports on this website. In the meantime we welcome everyone to CIT for what we are sure will be an exciting year of growth.
