Average general semester fees for full time study:

  • Certificate I-III: $430 - $1100 per semester
  • Certificate IV-Diploma: $700 - $1050 per semester 
  • Advanced Diploma: $785 - $1350 per semester 
  • Australian Apprenticeships Stage 1 programs are $181.90 per semester. 
  • Australian Apprenticeships Stage 2 and 3 programs - Standard CIT fees apply.
  • Associate Degree - Degree: Associate Degree, Degree and Graduate Diploma programs attract higher fees.

(Note: Fees vary per program and costs are dependent on the electives are chosen. Semester fees for part-time study are lower and are a proportion of full-time fees depending on the study load. Fees will vary if the program is listed as commercial.)

  • Student Fee Payment Plans are available where fees total more than $500
  • Scholarships are available to eligible students. 
  • Fees include the Facility fee, CIT Student Association (CITSA) services fee and GST (if applicable). 
  • Concessions apply to eligible Centrelink recipients in most circumstances. All applications for concession MUST be made at the Student Services Hub at time of enrolment or prior to the fee due date. Please bring relevant evidence with you to support your claim for a concession.

Concessions do not apply to:

  • CIT Commercial courses
  • CITSA services fee
  • Facilities fee 
  • Apprenticeship/Traineeship courses 
  • Higher Education fees (Degrees and Associate Degrees) 
  • CIT Card replacement fee 
  • CIT Solutions courses 
  • Material/Resource fees 
  • Excursion fees 
  • Late fees 
  • Administration fees 
  • The sponsor of a student 
  • Graduation robe hire fee 
  • Replacement award fee 
  • AIE Technology fee

Sponsored students including those from:

  • government agencies
  • public and private employers 
  • funded employment agencies

Programs which will not attract program fees (CIT Program Fee Exempt) are:

  • Learning options. The first 220 hours of enrolment will not attract program fees.

Fees will vary according to course and study load. This Course Guide provides indicative hours for each course.

Note: Study hours may include theory and practical classes; industry practicums, self-paced or self-directed learning, private study, project and research work - on or off campus.

Sponsored Students

If your fees are paid by someone other than you or your parents, you are considered a sponsored student. If you are a sponsored student, CIT must receive your sponsors written agreement to pay the fees before the due date on the invoice.

Additional Fees

Examples of additional fees are:

  • Material Fees - covering some of the cost of materials and equipment.
  • AIE Technology Fee - the technology fee applied when studying via the AIE, in 2010 this is $2,800 
  • Recognition Fee - the fee for applying for Recognition by Assessment. 
  • Excursion Fees - covering the costs of some excursions. 
  • Late Fee ($50) - may be applied to you account if your fees are not paid by the due date. 
  • Awards - re-issue of ($50). 
  • CITCard - replacement fee ($15).

ACT Government Fee Assistance

In June 2009, CIT received funding from the ACT Government to offer Fee Assistance to new and current students at CIT.  The purpose of this ACT Government Fee Assistance is to assist you in meeting the costs of your studies with CIT.  This new Fee Assistance will help you to fund the cost of your course fees or course materials.

There are some eligibility requirements, however the main requirement is that you are experiencing financial hardship, and do need some assistance with meeting your study costs with CIT.

Other Concessions

If you are presently obtaining certain Centrelink benefits then you may automatically receive a fee concession of 50% with CIT.  To find out more information about CIT fee concessions, please contact the CIT Student Services Hub on (02) 6207 3188 or email: infoline@cit.edu.au

Tax Deductibility

You may be eligible for tax deductions for program fees and associated study expenses.

GST

GST of 10% applies to some fees. Examples are the CITSA Services Fee and program materials fee where the item acquired becomes your property and is useable after the program completion. Basic tuition fees are GST free.
