Application Method:
Courses on Offer

Remember! Completing this application form does not guarantee you a place in the course you have chosen. You have completed an application to enrol only.

Summary:This program is delivered by CIT to facilitate student access to science study at the ANU. It will provide you with a strong theoretical foundation in the sciences, particularly the natural sciences, and a higher education pathway to the Bachelor of Science degree at ANU. It is a two year program.
Delivery Mode:4 semesters full-time (approx. 25 hours per week) OR part-time equivalent
Job Opportunities:Technical officer in biological or environmental science laboratories or field situations
Entry Requirements:  You must:
- have EITHER an ACT Year 12 Certificate, or equivalent, with a T-Major in both mathematics and a science, and at least a T-Minor in English.
OR
- be of Mature Age (turn at least 20 in first year of study) with relevant work or other practical experience and a demonstrated level of general education, which provides a reasonable chance of successfully completing the program.

NOTE: International students who have an IELTS rating of less than 6.5 who will be studying at ANU in the first year of the program, will be required to undertake additional English language study concurrently with their first semester of study.

You will be given preference if you:
- have an ACT Year 12 T-Major in Chemistry or equivalent, and one or more of the following:
1. an ACT Year 12 T-Major in an additional science or equivalent
2. other studies in Chemistry, General Science, Physics, or Biology
3. a demonstrated interest in the field as evidenced by work experience, volunteer work, or membership of related scientific clubs or societies.

Entry Process
1. Selection will be based on an assessment of your previous educational record, work and other relevant experience and interest in the field of study, as identified on the application form.
2. Where it is necessary to collect additional evidence on the selection criteria, you might be requested to attend an interview.
Additional Information:  This program consists of subjects taught at both CIT and ANU. Tuition costs for the CIT-delivered courses will be calculated according to CIT's fee system. Tuition costs for the ANU delivered courses will be Commonwealth supported for domestic students. See http://studyat.anu.edu.au/fees_and_charges/ for more information.

Costs associated with textbooks and safety equipment may be approximately $300 per year.
Credit Transfer:  If you complete the Associate Degree with at least a credit average in your CIT courses and a minimum grade of Pass in your ANU courses, you will be able to enter the Bachelor of Science degree program at the ANU with status for 18 months of study (equivalent to 72 credit points) and a HECS funded place (for Australian residents). However, you will need to apply through the University Admissions Centre (UAC). Students who do not attain a credit average can apply for entry to the Bachelor of Science program or other ANU Bachelor degree programs through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) but admission will not be automatic. If a student does gain entry through this competitive process they may gain up to 72 units of status for the Associate Degree towards the Bachelor of Science degree only. Assessment of status towards other ANU degrees will be determined by the relevant ANU College on a case-by-case basis.

Depending upon electives chosen, you will be well prepared for further study in Botany and Zoology, Ecology and Evolution, Genetics or Resource and Environmental Management.
