| Summary: | The Bachelor of Design (Fashion Design) aims to produce graduates capable of professional, creative leadership in the research, processes and management of a fashion design practice. Students study a series of subjects in design technology, social and cultural studies, communication, professional practice and studio. Elective options in a wide range of areas are also available. |
| Delivery Mode: | Degree: Six semesters full-time (approx. 22 hours per week) Advanced Diploma: Four semesters full-time (approx. 22 hours per week) The delivery of this program provides for integrated learning experiences. New learning from all subjects share common themes and is integrated and applied in design studio. Subjects are sequenced to move students from basic design ideas though to a substantial integrated design project. Students should anticipate spending additional time beyond the nominal duration to successfuly complete projects for all subjects. |

| Entry Requirements: | You must: -have an ACT Year 12 Certificate, or equivalent, including at least a major (110 hours) in English at T level or NSW Advanced English Band 3 OR -be of mature age with relevant work or other practical experience. If students are from a culturally and linguistically diverse background, and are using English as a second language (both oral and written), they must have English skills equivalent to ASLPR Level 3, or IELTS 6, or Cambridge Proficiency 0 Level English, or TOESL equivalent. Additional Selection Information All applicants must submit a Personal Statement, attend an interview and present a portfolio. The Personal Statement must detail the reasons for seeking enrolment into this course. The applicant’s workplace communication skills will also be assessed at interview. At interview, the applicant must present a portfolio consisting of ten selected pieces of visual art and/or design work, for example: - sketches and drawings in a variety of media - painting or mixed media art works - design developmental work - illustrations and prints, such as silk screen, woodcuts, etchings or linocuts - related interests, such as three dimensional works, photographs, textile design The portfolio and performance at interview will assess: - drawing and design abilities - aesthetic evaluation and judgment - creative and innovative conceptual thinking - motivation and interest in design - communication and computer skills - career and industry awareness - work experience, where relevant |

| Additional Information: | All students will initially enrol in the Advanced Diploma of Design (Fashion Design) and then proceed to the Bachelor of Design (Fashion Design) . You will need to successfully complete Stages 1-4, or equivalent, before continuing into the third year of the degree program. If you have already completed an Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design (or equivalent) studies at a TAFE, Institute of Technology or Polytechnic either in Australia or overseas, you may be eligible for direct entry to the final year of the program. You may be eligible to apply for advanced standing, through CIT's recognition process, for subjects within the program on the basis of knowledge and skills obtained through previous study and / or work experience. The average cost of a full-time study load for stage 1 to 4 is approximately $900 a semester. Stage 5 and 6 in the degree program are subject to significantly higher tuition fees. Concessions do not apply to these subjects in the CIT degree programs. CIT now offers FEE HELP for stage 5 and 6 in the degree program - refer to CIT Degrees for more information and fee details. FEE-HELP, is an Australian Government loan scheme set up to enable eligible students to defer part or all of their tuition fees until they are working and can afford to pay them back. During stages 5 and 6 you will be expected to meet additional costs involved in your chosen project work. |
