Summary:This program provides the knowledge and skills necessary to provide an advanced level of chairside assistance to the operator, including contributing to the quality of dental care provided through well developed communication skills; providing an oral health education program that promotes good oral health as part of general good health; as well as implementing and monitoring infection control policy and procedures. The Dental Radiography specialisation provides the skills and knowledge needed to interpret a request from a dental operator to safely take and develop radiographic image of a diagnostic quality to be used within a Dental Surgery.
Delivery Mode:General qualification - 2 semesters part-time (approx 3 hours per week)
Dental Radiography specialisation - 2 semesters part-time (approx. 6 hours per week)

Entry Requirements:  Certificate IV in Dental Assisting
You must
- have a Certificate III in Dental Assisting
AND
- be currently employed in a dental surgery
AND
- have written support from your employer endorsing that the full range of skills and equipment required to complete the qualification are available to you.

Dental Radiography Specialisation
If you wish to enrol in the dental radiography you must also provide written support from your employing dentist stating that you will be employed as a dental radiographer in training.

You must
- have a Certificate IV in Dental Assisting
AND
- be currently employed in a dental surgery
AND
- have written support from your employer endorsing that the full range of skills and equipment required to complete the qualification are available to you.
Additional Information:  The Certificate IV in Dental Assisting is recognised throughout Australia.
Dental Radiography specialisation - maximum of 6 students per intake. A materials fee of $25 applies to this program.
