| Summary: | You must be employed as a dental assistant within a dental practice or have a work placement in a dental practice to complete this program. The program provides the knowledge and skills needed to assist a dentist, dental hygienist or dental therapist during dental procedures, to help maintain high standards of infection control and to assist with practice administration. These dental assisting skills are practised and further developed under the supervision of the dentist. | |||

| Entry Requirements: | You must - be able to read and write documents and understand maths concepts to a level required to complete Year 10 (early in your program your skills will be checked - if you cannot read and write documents and complete maths work to the level needed, you will be enrolled in additional subjects to help you build the skills needed to successfully complete the program). AND - be employed in a dental surgery and/or undertake an industry placement for a minimum of 160 hours to complete the qualification If you are entering this program as a Trainee under the Australian Apprenticeships arrangements, you must be employed in a dental surgery to complete this program and you must register with an Australian Apprenticeships Centre (AAC) prior to enrolment. | |||
