Summary:This program offers specialisations in paint or panel beating. It provides training that will enable you to repair the body of vehicles that have been damaged in accidents. You will learn to weld, repair panels and remove and replace vehicle components and accessories. You must be an apprentice or trainee to enroll in this program.
Delivery Mode:3 semesters part-time (9 blocks per year, approx 24 hours per week per block)

Entry Requirements:  You must:
- be able to read and write documents and understand maths concepts to a level required to complete Year 10. Early in the program these skills will be assessed - any student who cannot read and write documents and complete maths work to the level needed will be enrolled into additional subjects to help them build the skills needed to successfully complete the program.

If students are entering these programs as an apprentice/trainee they must:
  • be employed in the auto industry
  • be an Apprentice or Trainee under the Australian Apprenticeship Scheme (AAS) and be registered with an Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC) prior to enrolment.

Additional Information: These qualifications may also be achieved through other pathways which do not involve a contract of training, such as recognition of prior learning. In all cases achievement or recognition of competence is necessary in all of the required units of competency to be awarded a national qualification.
Availability:Student intake offered in Semester 1 and Semester 2
Additional Information:  You will need to wear appropriate protective clothing and equipment when in the automotive workshops. Electives will be chosen according to specific specialisations and have been developed in consultation with local industry automotive representatives. Consult CIT staff for advice.
