This qualification meets the requirements of the Animal Care and Management Training Package (ACM10)

Summary:This program provides the training to be responsible for a wide range of companion and laboratory animals, operating at a senior level. Study areas encompass animal handling, husbandry, breeding, nutrition, animal disease and animal surgical techniques.
Delivery Mode:4 semesters full-time (approx. 20 hours per week) OR part-time equivalent
Job Opportunities:Senior animal technician in scientific laboratories, educational institutions, veterinary hospitals, domestic animal shelters and other animal related industries.
Entry Requirements:  You must
- have an ACT Year 12 Certificate (or equivalent) OR be working in the animal technology industry OR be Mature Age (turn at least 20 in first year of study) and be able to read and write documents and understand maths concepts to a level required to complete Year 10.
OR
- have completed the Certificate III in Animal Technology OR be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and knowledge.
If you do not meet these requirements you may be eligible to enrol and enter at the lower level qualification - Certificate III in Animal Technology.

Note: If you have a Certificate III in Animal Technology you will be given recognition for subjects already achieved. Those units will automatically count in this program and you do not need to be re-enrolled or re-assessed.
Availability:Student intake offered in Semester 1
Additional Information:  It is highly recommended that whilst undertaking this qualification you should seek to gain a period of work placement or work experience in an animal care environment and/or workplace.
You will be required to wear suitable protective clothing when dealing with animals and in the laboratory.
The Certificate III in Animal Technology gives you credit into this program.
