Summary:This program provides training to be responsible for a wide range of companion and laboratory animals. Study areas encompass animal handling, husbandry, animal health and well being, breeding, nutrition, animal disease and animal surgical techniques.
Delivery Mode:2 semesters full-time (approx. 20 hours per week) OR part-time equivalent
Job Opportunities:Assistant level as an Animal technician, Laboratory animal technician, Technical officer and Field technician.
Entry Requirements:  You must
- have an ACT Year 12 Certificate (or equivalent) OR be working in the animal technology industry OR be Mature Age (turn at least 20 in first year of study) and be able to read and write documents and understand maths concepts to a level required to complete Year 10.
Availability:Student intake offered in Semester 1
Additional Information:  It is highly recommended that whilst undertaking this qualification you should seek to gain a period of work placement or work experience in an animal care environment and/or workplace.
You will be required to wear suitable protective clothing when dealing with animals and in the laboratory.
Credit Transfer:  This program gives you credit into the Diploma of Animal Technology ACM50110.
