Summary:This qualification addresses work primarily in residential facilities within defined organisation guidelines and service plans.
These workers will carry out activities related to maintaining an individual’s well being through personal care and/or other activities of living; may provide services to individuals with complex needs, and/or work with groups of older people. Work may include training and support to promote independence and community participation, which may be provided as part of activities and programs in a variety of settings including residential and centre-based programs. They report to service managers and liaise with professionals and other service providers and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a limited number of other workers.
Delivery Mode:You will receive an individual study plan depending on your work experience and previous studies. For example, you may be required to attend for 1 semester (approximately 20 hours per week), participate in work placements and online learning activities.

Entry Requirements:  You must have
Certificate III in Aged Care or equivalent, experience within the last two years in residential aged care AND completion of the following six competencies (Recognition process may apply):
• CHCAC318B Work effectively with older people
• CHCAC319A Provide support to people living with dementia
• CHCCS411B Work effectively in the community sector
• CHCICS303A Support individual health and emotional well being
• CHCPA301B Deliver care services using a palliative approach
• HLTAP301B Recognise healthy body systems in a health care context

Applicants may be interviewed to demonstrate interest in complex client support, policies and procedures of residential aged care and supervision of other workers or a small team

If you are entering this program as a Trainee under the Australian Apprenticeships arrangements, you must be employed in the industry and you must register with an Australian Apprenticeships Centre (AAC) prior to enrolment
