Raj Singh - Information Technology

When I finished grade 12 in India, I knew I wanted to go to university to study in IT, but wanted to get some skills under my belt first.

Before I went to university I wanted to get some foundation knowledge, and I wanted to get some skills in networking.

I was looking internationally and found the Certificate IV in IT Networking at Canberra Institute of Technology, which I applied for.

After that, I went on to complete the Certificate IV in Programming, and the Diploma of Software Development, and I’m now studying a software development course at university.

I always find that what I learnt at CIT really helps me in my university subjects now. University is very theoretical, but all of the classes at CIT were very practical, which gave me a firm understanding of the concepts.

In the final semester of my diploma, all software development students were required to complete a project working for a real client. Not only did this project give Raj real world experience and confidence in his ability, it has turned into a job.

The project we were working on was very long, so my group was only able to complete some of it during the study period. So the client chose me to come on board and finish the project, which has been a fantastic experience.
