Overview

This course gives you practical business and computing skills. You will learn in an exciting real life business environment called the Simulated Business which provides you the opportunity to gain essential experience working with other students all over Australia. Although the products and money are virtual, everything else is real!

You will get real life skills in communication, networking, managing accounts, maintaining financial records and organising schedules. You will also advance your skills in Word, Excel, Access and MYOB. Give yourself the edge!

Duration: 1 semester full-time (approximately 25 hours per week) OR part-time equivalent. Plus additional 10 hours per week (approximately) individual learning such as research, online activities, projects, team work, etc.

If you have relevant work experience and/or other relevant qualifications, you may be able to seek recognition or fast-track through the learning requirements and complete your qualification is less time.

This qualification is part of a suite of programs and completion of a relevant lower level program, or demonstration of equivalent skills and knowledge, is required before progression to higher level programs.

To be successful in this program it is advisable that you have the following subjects:

- BSBITU102 Develop keyboard skills
- BSBITU201 Produce simple word processed documents
- BSBITU202 Create and use spreadsheets
- BSBITU203 Communicate electronically
- BSBCMM201 Communicate in the workplace

OR are able to demonstrate equivalent skills in using office technology including typing, word processing, spreadsheet creation and electronic office communication tools.

If you do not have these skills you may enrol in the Certificate II in Business.

If you are entering this program as a trainee under the Australian Apprenticeships arrangements you must be employed in the industry and you must register with an Apprentice Network Provider (ANP) prior to enrolment.

Literacy Skills Information

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework levels of at least 2 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your program of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this program. See below to check your literacy skills. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with a lower level program, or enrol in the Certificate I in Skills for Vocational Pathways (FSK10213) to develop your literacy skills.       This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop keyboard skills with speed and accuracy using touch-typing techniques.

      On successful completion of this unit, individuals must be assessed in accordance with the current version of AS 2708: 2001 and issued with a speed statement.
