Trish Rowe - Adult Migrant English Program
I have taught English as a second language for 21 years in TAFEs throughout NSW and ACT.
I have worked across the Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP), the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP), the English for Employment, Study and Life program and Learning Options.
This has given me a thorough understanding of the complexities of English language teaching and means I can support CIT’s wide variety of adult migrant students.
I ensure new Adult Migrant English Program students at CIT will be placed in the appropriate class by conducting interviews. Students can be newly arrived migrants, skilled workers, refugees or individuals who have come to Australia with their spouses or family.
Interviews are also conducted at the end of training to ensure each student is on a path that will help them reach their goals. This might be further study, such as the Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP), English for Employment and Study or another CIT program - or they may have sufficient skills already and not need further study at all.
I also coordinate and support CIT’s AMEP teachers to ensure they are providing the best training possible to our students and that they continue to grow.
