Industry experience

I have worked in the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) for almost thirty years, delivered through the TAFE systems in Adelaide, the Riverina and Canberra.

I have also been a teacher trainer delivering the Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language through University of Technology Sydney and the Language Teaching Experience unit at the University of Canberra, in the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages Graduate Diploma. I have maintained close ties with this program arranging observations at CIT for trainee teachers.

How I've improved training for students and industry

In 2008 I re-wrote the new Home Tutor training program, used to train home tutors who then go on to teach English to migrants in their own environment. The program now incorporates modern training methodology and has been purchased by the South Australian AMEP Home Tutor Scheme.
