Welcome to CIT FIT & WELL!

CIT FIT & WELL is now open and everyone can join! You don’t need to be a CIT student or staff member to take advantage of this great fitness centre.

There is plenty of equipment, a modern design and  group exercise classes are held daily.

For less than $10 a week members will have full use of the gym plus any of the group classes. For small extra cost per semester members can also have a student fitness trainer at every session.

The gym has been designed to capture the natural environment, with views of the gardens in both the main gym and the exercise class room.

CIT Fit & Well is an authentic learning environment for fitness sport and health students. We would like to thank our clients for their patience and understanding in fitting in with our education programs.

What is CIT FIT & WELL?

CIT FIT & WELL at Bruce Campus is a fully student run fitness centre and provides Sport and Fitness students with the opportunity to gain practical industry experience.

It is open to staff, students and the general public, as well as being the home gym of ACT AFL and cricket teams.

CIT FIT & WELL students work with athletes for training and injury management, ACT Health patients for rehabilitation and the general public for fitness training.

CIT FIT & WELL opened in August 2009 in its great new location in A Block. The fitness centre is now more accessible and visible on Bruce Campus than the previous campus gym.

The interior design was done by Centre for Creative Industries Interior Design students, overseen by teacher Lisa Biddiscombe. Special attention was paid to the colour scheme and there was an effort to bring the outside in.

It was officially opened on 11 August by Minster for Education and Sport, Mr Andrew Barr MLA.

Facilities

CIT FIT & WELL has a large number of exercise machines and equipment for use by members. Students also have a separate computer room to aide them in their study.

Students and teachers will be on hand to give assistance to members.

There is:

  • a large variety of weight training equipment;
  • fitness assessment and personalised programs;
  • fitness classes; and
  • personal training.

CIT FIT & WELL gym staff can develop a fitness program to suit you. You can book in for a health assessment or just head over in your lunch break for a cardio or weights session.


Costs

Fit & Well early bird annual memberships are available for only $340

  • Personal Training (student) $60 per semester (subject to availability)

CIT FIT & WELL is a student run gym that is available to the community to aid students in their learning and to support the ACT community in providing quality fitness centre facilities at a subsidised price for members.

It is for that reason that further discounts on membership prices are not available. Please take the opportunity to support the development of industry professionals at a significantly reduced rate.

Please note: Pro rata Memberships are only on sale at certain times of the year and have a minimum membership time of ten weeks. These times will be advertised.

Corporate groups are welcome to join with concessions applying for groups of 15 or more.

For an extra cost per semester you can have a student fitness trainer assist you at every session. Ask our staff how!

Replacement of lost cards will incur a cost of $15 per card.

*2010 Memberships are valid from 9 January 2012 to 17 December 2012.

Classes

Exercise class roomGroup exercise classes run at CIT FIT & WELL include Bootcamp, Boxercise, Circuit, Bar/Resistance, Posture and Flexibility, and Spin.

There are currently 15 classes running per week. Early morning classes have been introduced and begin at 6.40am.

CIT FIT & WELL now has a partnership with Body Training Solutions to run choreographed group exercise classes. For more information on these classes, see www.bodytrainingsolutions.com.au

What is that class?

Group Power

A 50 to 60 minute barbell program that aims to strengthen all your major muscles with simple movements such as squats, lunges, presses and curls all to music to create a simple and fun way to train. Group power is for all ages and fitness levels.

Group Centergy

A 50 to 60 minute barbell program that aims to strengthen all your major muscles with simple movements such as squats, lunges, presses and curls all to music to create a simple and fun way to train. Group power is for all ages and fitness levels.

Group Ride

Pedal in groups, roll over hills, chase the pack, climb mountains and spin your way to burning calories in this 50 to 60 minute cycling program. Group ride is for anybody who wants to improve their cardiovascular fitness, burn calories, burn fat, shape and strengthen their lower body and most importantly have fun doing it.

Group Active

Group Active will increase your cardio fitness, build your strength and improve your balance and flexibility all in the one class. This class is perfect for the new and infrequent exerciser as it incorporates all elements of fitness in just 60 minutes.

Fitball/Strength/Core

Complete body workout that focuses on deep core control and muscle strength all on a fitball.

Boxercise

A boxing circuit that combines punching and boxing exercises to give you a great cardio workout as well as correcting your technique.

Circuit/boot camp

The ultimate workout! An excellent way to enhance strength and cardiovascular fitness with stations set out in a circuit formation with minimal rest in between each exercise. A great challenge for everybody.

Heart Moves

Heart moves is open to everyone and is designed to be safe for people with stable long term health conditions. The class consists of gentle exercise that you do at your own pace in a friendly atmosphere.

Dru Yoga

For health and harmony. Suitable for people of all ages and all fitness levels and provides an effective way to unwind and revitalise. It enhances flexibility, physical strength, mental clarity and emotional balance

Meditation

Dru meditation is a great way to relax, de-stress and maximise your productivity and/or creativity. Using a range of techniques including breathing and visualisation meditation will provide a range of useful strategies to use in your busy daily routines. Research shows regular mediation has very positive results for personal health and well being.
