Dahrnoir takes out band title

Dahrnoir_take_out_band_titleCanberra band Dahrnoir have taken out the ACT final of the National Campus Band Competition 2012.

Guitarist and vocalist, and past-CIT music student, Henry Waldren says the group didn't hear it when their name was called out at first, and were quite surprised when they realised the result.

"It was a pretty good feeling. We have a long way to go, but our hard work is kind of starting to pay off," he said.

Henry describes their music as, 'kind of chilled-out', and says the group, who met through mutual friends, have been together since last October, and started gigging in July this year.

"A lot of good things have come out of our win already. A band from Melbourne have asked us to support them at their Canberra show, and we’ve heard from people who would like to work with us," he says.

The annual competition is open to artists from across the country who are enrolled as a student at university or TAFE.

Dahrnoir were presented with a giant cheque for $3,500 which Henry says will go towards getting them to the national final in Adelaide on the 28 September 2012.
