Media Release: Witness the Art of Flowers

09 Sep 2011

CIT floristry student Marg Damiano spent over 40 hours stitching petals to her fashion piece for the CIT Art of Flowers exhibition at the Canberra Centre.

A floral feast has sprung upon Canberra in the lead-up to Floriade where people can witness the true Art of Flowers.

In partnership with Canberra Centre, CIT Certificate III in Floristry students have skilfully re-create this season’s exquisite fashion trends using thousands of flowers to complement Canberra Centre’s spring Art of Fashion theme.

Embedded in lush cottage gardens, a 26-metre catwalk showcases a vibrant retro-take on the coming of spring and bid a fond farewell to the shades of winter. Key features of the display include:

  • Flirty Floral Fashion
  • A 60s Screen Siren
  • Punk Rock
  • A Rainbow of Colour
  • White Minimalism

The display will be exhibited from September 8th to 18th on the sky-lit glassed floors on Level 1, Canberra Centre.

Now in its 9th year, the annual exhibition is commissioned and sponsored by Canberra Centre in association with Floriade.
