Multicultural Success at CIT
01 Dec 2011
2011 has been another great year for accolades for CIT, with CIT Vocational College winning a prestigious ACT multicultural award last night.
The college received the Australian Capital Territory Multicultural Awards 2011's Education Award at a ceremony at the Hellenic Club.
The award recognises the Vocational College's outstanding commitment to people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, as underlined by the college's Adult Migrant English Program, Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program, the English for Employment, Study and Life Program and the English Program for international students.
CIT Vocational College Director Jackie Wenner said the college is proud of the wide range of learning opportunities it provides to the ACT's multicultural community.
"From English classes for newly arrived migrants and refugees through to advanced English programs, and pathways to other vocational programs in CIT, our students can successfully obtain the skills and confidence to move onto further study and employment," she said.
"In return our culturally diverse students share their past experiences and perspectives, enriching the lives of fellow students and staff alike within the Vocational College."
"Ultimately though it takes a lot of passion, commitment and professionalism from the Vocational College staff to deliver these programs, and it's an honour to have this recognised by this award."
