CIT and Charles Sturt University in Agreement
06 Mar 2009
The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) and Charles Sturt University have signed an agreement to create education pathways between the two institutions for local ACT, regional NSW and international students.
The agreement will allow CIT students to gain qualifications beyond their studies at CIT to access higher education courses, such as gaining access to Charles Sturt University's wide choice of degrees, including distance education courses.
For Charles Sturt University students, they will gain access to unique CIT offerings, as well as helping the ACT community increase its overall level of higher qualifications to provide a bigger pool of professionals locally.
Both institutions will work together to capitalise on mutual strengths and interests to improve the quality of provision in areas such as student support and administration, and online learning. There will be planned credit arrangements across a broad range of disciplines including: business studies, graphic design/multimedia, IT, library and information services, spatial information services, complementary medicine and allied health.
The agreement will also ensure longer term opportunities for staff from both institutions to access professional development and undertake professional collaborations through exchange arrangements.
Chief Executive of the Canberra Institute of Technology, Dr Colin Adrian said "The agreement builds on and expands existing CIT collaboration with Charles Sturt University, for example through our joint delivery of the Graduate Certificate in Management. The agreement broadens the array of higher education pathways and credit arrangements, open to CIT students".
