Electrotechnology Trades
After studying electrotechnology, all things electrical can open up to you. As well as career opportunities as a sparkie, you could work as a technician, repairer, installer or in maintenance, specialising in trades including electricity, refrigeration, air conditioning, mechanical and electronics.
Plumbing
As a plumbing apprentice, learn about installing, maintaining and repairing heating and ventilation systems, general plumbing and drainage systems, metal roofing and gas fitting. You could end up with a job as a plumber, plumber-drainer and gasfitter, roof plumber, plumber-drainer, or a plumber-gasfitter.
Automotive
If you want to gain an apprenticeship or traineeship in automotive, learn the skills needed by motor mechanics such as using and maintaining tools, testing, servicing and replacing batteries and inspecting and servicing engines, suspension systems and steering systems. You will learn on the latest equipment, and will be set up for a career in the automotive industry.
Metals
Study metals and you will learn to write reports, manage teams and staff within the metals and engineering industry, and supervise welding inspections, putting you in high demand by construction employees. Career outcomes could include welding, heavy or light fabrication and boat building.
Try-a-Trade
A trade can give you the opportunity to be your own boss, engage in problem solving and explore your creativity.
At the CIT Try-a-Trade event, participants can experience a wide range of trades including plumbing, electrical, refrigeration and air-conditioning, automotive, panel beating, vehicle painting, and metal fabrication. This event will provide participants with the opportunity to experience real projects in a range of trades.
By participating in Try-a-Trade, you will be better equipped to seek information about future career choices.
Try-a-Trade will be held at the CIT Fyshwick Campus on the 26 October 2012.
